BASE: Results in Life and Work — by Design

The foundation underneath your results is invisible - until you measure it. Every decision you make, every result you produce, every gap between where you are and where you want to be - it's all filtered through three things: what you know, what you value, and the picture you hold of yourself. Most people can't see the filter. I built a way to measure it.

About Chad

The person behind the framework.

Chad Bringman has spent nearly two decades as CEO of Ronald McDonald House of Northwest Ohio — a role he's held since 2007. Under his leadership, the House has grown from an 8,000 square foot facility to a 38,000 square foot home with 28 guest rooms, serving hundreds of families each year whose children are receiving medical care. It's the work he's most proud of.

He's also spent years helping schools, businesses, leaders, and others think more clearly about how their mindset and actions are shaping their results — and what might be getting in the way. From the day-to-day to the boardroom and everywhere in between, Chad has a passion for not just figuring out the why and the how — but helping others become the best version of themselves.

Through all of it, he's been a student — always trying to figure out how to be the best version of himself in every role he's in. That curiosity led him to examine leadership, personal relationships, results, and the outcomes those relationships produce. What came out of that work was the BASE Methodology.

Results don't start where you think they do.

Most people only look at results after the fact - and work backward when something goes wrong. The problem is that results are the end of a chain, not the beginning. Before every result is an action. Before every action is a thought. And before every thought is a foundation that filters everything.

That foundation has three sides: what you know, what you value, and how you see yourself. Those three things shape every decision you make, every habit you build, and every result you produce - whether you're aware of it or not.

The chain - foundation → thought → action → result - is always running. In you. In your team. In your organization. The only question is whether you can see it clearly enough to shape it by design instead of stumbling through it by accident.

"Before we think, we filter."

- Chad Bringman, BASE: Results in Life and Work

The Chain: Foundation → Thought → Action → Result

Three sides. Three gaps. One framework.

BASE is a triangle. The three sides - Knowledge, Values, and Self-Concept - are the foundation underneath every result you produce. The gaps between those sides are what we measure. Close the gaps, and results follow. It's not motivation. It's not willpower. It's architecture.

Side One

Knowledge

What you know, what you don't know, and what your stakeholders actually expect of you - not what you assume they expect.

Side Two

Values

What you say matters versus what your behavior proves actually matters. The distance between the two is your character gap.

Side Three

Self-Concept

Ego and reality combined into one picture of who you are - your self-image, self-esteem, and self-determination. This is the side most people never examine.

The Individual BASE Triangle — Knowledge, Values, and Self-Concept

The same triangle applies at every level.

When individual self-concepts blend across a group, the result is culture - the collective picture an organization holds of itself. Same three sides. Same gaps. Same measurement logic. Higher stakes.

Organization

Knowledge

What the organization knows about its stakeholders, its market, and the gap between what it assumes and what's actually true.

Organization

Values

What the organization says it stands for versus what its behavior - policies, decisions, daily actions - actually demonstrates.

Organization

Culture

How people feel when they interact with your organization. Culture is experienced before it's quantified. It's self-concept at scale.

The Organizational BASE Triangle — Knowledge, Values, and Culture

BASE has been developed and tested across healthcare leadership, nonprofit governance, small business strategy, family enterprises, and individual coaching - with leaders willing to look honestly at what was driving their results. The same triangle. Every time.

BASE: Results in Life and Work - by Design

by Chad Bringman

This book is the full framework - the methodology, the thinking behind it, and how to apply it. It won't tell you what to do. It will show you why you do what you already do - and give you a way to measure and close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Not theory. Not inspiration. Architecture.

The book is in progress. The methodology is not.

When the book arrives, this site becomes its companion — with tools, assessments, and resources that go deeper than what print allows.
